A Chinese Singaporean by birth, Connie began her teaching career in a school just before she became a mother. She struggled to find a balance between her teaching job and family, and then experimented with homeschooling during the SARS period. But it was only when she was expecting her fourth child that she finally took steps to make homeschooling a reality.
With her supportive husband, Connie used an eclectic approach to homeschool her 2 boys and 2 girls. Homeschooling days were full of field trips and fun co-ops with their father as their sports coach. They played various sports and took part in public speaking.
All 4 kids have now graduated from homeschooling and they are aged from 16 to 22. All are studying, except Connie's second child, Sophia, who has started working as a UX Designer in a local firm. Matthew, the eldest, is studying for his Social Work degree at the Singapore University of Social Sciences; Joash is a second year student in a local polytechnic; and the youngest, Anna, is taking her GCE "O" Levels.
Connie is a Homeschool Consultant and teaches English language on a part-time basis.
