Renuka Ramroop lives in South Africa and has been home educating her two children for the last 18 years following the Natural Learning Approach. This incredible journey inspired her to complete a doctorate in Natural Learning, making it the first in-depth study of the Natural Learning approach in South Africa. Having worked both in formal educational environments (teacher, lecturer, and independent consultant) and in the non-profit sector (rural education and development projects), Renuka witnessed the shortcomings of the traditional institutional education system and its impact on both individuals and communities. This led her to make the decision to home educate her children. She is passionate about contributing knowledge, insight, and data on the home education phenomenon in South Africa. Renuka is of the strong opinion that the South African home education sector offers its own unique voice, context, and experiences that will benefit the world. She has authored articles in both academic journals and current media outlets on the topic of home education/natural learning. Renuka is a research associate at the University of Limpopo, South Africa, and is currently involved in exciting research projects. She also serves on a forum that engages the South African Department of Education on home education matters.
