Zabdiel Torres is a homeschool father who along with his wife Karime have educated at home their five children since 2009, the year when he also started Homeschooling Mexico, the first online community of Home Educators in their country and where more than 6000 families are grouped. Zabdiel is also the founder and conductor of the Orchestra of Home Schooled Children (ONJEH for its acronym in Spanish). He has participated as a speaker on different topics about homeschooling and parenting in different cities of Mexico and also as a guest lecturer for Character First! Mexico. Through conferences and publications on social networks Zabdiel has sought to make the HS community change the idea that that homeschooling in Mexico takes advantage of a so called “legal void” and help them understand that it is the parents' right, fundamental and inalienable, to educate their own children at home and that, in doing so, they exercise a right protected by national and international laws.
